Plumber Nets Big Lotto Win, Goes Straight Back to Work

Hardworking plumber John Doherty might have thought about hanging up his spanners and taking life a bit more easily when he won the lottery back in July, no one would have blamed him. But quitting work is not for him as he was seen out this week renewing his training to continue as a gasman.

It’s several months since John Doherty won a massive £14,000,000 on the UK Lotto, a pretty big win by all accounts and certainly enough for the 52-year-old winner to retire on. However, two days after the win, the plumber was back mending boilers, and now with the renewal of his training, it’s clear that he has no intention of quitting work any time soon.

The father of two scooped the jackpot back on 2nd July after matching all six numbers in the Lotto draw but he hasn’t really splashed the cash. While a new Mercedes van carrying his company logo might show that the winner is somewhat affluent, the down to earth winner insists that he loves what he does and thinks it keeps him grounded. He has no intention of jetting off or quitting the job he’s done for 32 years, but the win has made a huge difference to his life.

The Lotto winner and his wife hit the news when they scooped this massive jackpot the day before they were due to fly to Florida on a family break. One lucky dip from the local store and they were over £14,000,000 richer. Due to fly the couple hid the ticket at home, went on holiday and alerted Lotto bosses upon their return. There may be many more holidays to come, but John says he’s definitely not quitting his job.
